With the advent of the Internet, buying old or modern stock certificates became as easy as point and click! There are many online venues that have old and modern stock certificates for sale; inluding online specialy merchants, online auctions and Scripophily dealers.

Online Stores - There are several online specialty merchants that sell single shares of stocks. Companies like OneShare.com (which I've purchased from myself, highly recommended!), GiveAShare.com and FrameAStock.com specialize in the retail of single shares of stock suitable for framing. An additional "perk" to purchasing through these companies is that all of the shares they sell are actual shares in an active company.

Online Auctions - Online auction websits can be a great resource for obtaining There are only a few online auction websites with old or modern stock certificates for sale. Ebay and Yahoo Auctions both had some stock certificates available for bid when I checked. Ebay's offerings far out-strip Yahoo's though as I found over 1800 items listed for bid on Ebay but less than 50 listed for bid on Yahoo. However, all of the shares that I looked at on either website were being sold purely as a collectible and where either obsolete, cancelled, unissued or non-transferable.

NOTE: If you are considering bidding on one of the auction websites you might want to checkout the mis-spelling tool available from Dotty's mall!

Scripophily Dealers - There are seveal online Scripophily dealers on the Internet; including OldStocks.com which specializes in affordable novelty certificates, AntiquaryPartnership.com which specializes in old bonds and share certificates from around the world and AntiqueSecurities.com which specializes in historical bonds, stocks and other financial documents. It is important to note that like buying through an online auction website that the certificates that these sites are selling are being sold as collectibles only and are either obsolete, cancelled, unissued or non-transferable.
